Leaders can’t improve the desired outcome by working harder and harder at putting things into more logically organized, but ever tighter, smaller and more confining boxes. Nor can leaders improve the outcome by then validating those choices by endless amounts of clinical over-analysis that could never prove the facts in the first place. In other words, you can try to systematize and refine the analytical process in an effort to reduce the risk, if you like. However, don’t be surprised when you are caught flat-footed by events that unfold in unpredictable, illogical ways and at times that are seriously inconvenient for you.
