General Renault Nissan Motors

Friday, July 07, 2006

Finally a car company with an acronym longer than 3 letters.

It's amazing that the whole Nissan/Renault/GM issue is only being portrayed from the GM perspective - as though Carlos Ghosn is sitting around with nothing better to do than wait for Rich Wagoner to stop by and merge the companies.

I'm glad that the Board at GM approved the ability to approach Nissan/Renault. I just can't imagine that Nissan/Renault wants any part of the Edsel (whoops... Ford reference) that GM has become.

Time will tell, but if Nissan is smart (which they are) they'll entertain the talks, but that's about as far as they'll go for fear of ending up in the same boat as Mazda, Austin Martin, Volvo, and Land Rover..
