How Were They To Know..but...

Friday, January 12, 2007

My parents had to wait for the evening news to get their information. Nowadays, 24 hours a day, I get CNN Breaking News articles sent to my BlackBerry instantly..

The times have changed.. and it's up to organizations to understand how things have changed, and adapt.. quickly...

This morning, I received my last (my subscription is running out..) issue of Mental Floss magazine. It's a great magazine, but I have too many other things to read.. so for now.. I'll pass..

First of all, it's the January - February issue.. and I received it on January 12th.. hmmmm...

Second, it had an editorial error (how were they to know..)

The cover article is "Where Are They Now?" and it listed 26 things (A-Z) that aren't in the news daily.. you know Acid Rain.. The Bubble Boy... etc...

Anyway, when it got to G.. guess what they used.. Gerald Ford...It starts with a little section called "Celebrity Profile" and then it goes on to "Recently Spotted" and here's the quote:

"Still being alive..."

Yikes...

Most of us knew.. on December 26, that he passed away..

And yes, as a former marketer, I know all about press time, etc.. but there's a great example of a changing industry..

Don't get caught...
