Holiday Rush

Friday, December 01, 2006

Great article in today's Globe and Mail about the labour shortage in the retail industry for the holiday rush:

"Canada's retail industry is in the grip of a severe labour shortage that has employers scrambling to find and keep workers during the holiday shopping rush."

Seems as though the industry is playing by an outdated set of rules. The key will be for them to develop an Employee Value Proposition that attracts talent to the organization.

With so many companies out there, the solution will be difficult. All it takes is an analysis of the company's culture to determine where there is room for improvement, and ultimately where they will find their edge to attract, and ultimately retain talent, for the holiday rush, and into the future.
