Our Story

Our President & CEO, Doug Williamson, founded The Beacon Group over 20 years ago with the purpose of helping organizations of all sizes, across all industries and geographies, enact meaningful change in their business practices and drive a higher level of overall performance.

Our approach has always been grounded in providing clients with data-driven insight on the state of their workforce in combination with practical leadership development to grow stronger people leaders at all levels of the business.

Doug Williamson

President & CEO

Throughout Doug’s more than thirty five years of international business experience, he has been actively involved in initiating positive, transformational change inside many organizations of diverse sizes, in a range of industries and in a variety of countries. In the process, he has helped improve the overall performance and effectiveness of countless individual senior leaders and executive teams.

His experience, insight and expertise has been put to work helping organizations navigate difficult situations, arising from structural change, cultural transformation, market disruptions and/or the need to develop new strategies and new competencies to support sustainable growth.

Linda McKend

Senior Vice-President & CFO

Linda is responsible for all aspects of our financial relationship with clients. In addition, she contributes to strategy development and to the day-to-day management of the business. Linda holds an MBA from Queen’s University and BSc from the University of Waterloo.

Cathy Atkinson

Vice-President of Relationship Management

Cathy contributes broadly to many aspects of our business. Her primary focus is on building, maintaining and managing relationships with our clients. She ensures the key services provided by The Beacon Group meet the high standards of our clients. Cathy graduated with a BSc. from the University of Western Ontario.

Shannon Talarico

Vice-President of Organizational Assessment Solutions

Shannon is responsible for the delivery of products and services within The Beacon Group’s assessment division. She advises on survey methodologies, design, and implementation and provides customized reporting of survey results to clients. Her extensive experience in survey development allows The Beacon Group to offer customizable surveys on a variety of topics, including employee satisfaction, 360 feedback reviews, individual and team effectiveness, cultural health, and more. Shannon holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto.

Geoffrey Williamson

Senior Director of Project & Account Management

Geoffrey oversees the management of major projects and client accounts at The Beacon Group. He is the primary contact for clients, managing the design and implementation of customized products and services. He is also responsible for ongoing marketing strategy and execution, digital presence, social media, and analytics. Geoffrey is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario with a BA in Media, Information & Technoculture.

Powin Low

Director of Information Technology

Powin oversees the company’s data systems, which include a robust Customer Relationship Management system (CRM), as well as an extensive library of professional services materials.
